Colonial Days

At Colonial Days, we did a bunch of colonial activities. We played colonial games like: bean bag toss, ring toss, roll the hoop, a little crossbow game where we shot it into a box, we did bandana stories, and we did rope the bull. We also made icecream by rolling around big tin cans full of ice and salt, it was really good. We also made candles by dipping a wick in wax over and over again. We also made colonial toys called humdingers with a button and a string. We also made butter by shaking cream and salt in a jar. We tried our butter on crackers. We also made luminaries, which go around our candles. And that's what we did at Colonial Days.

Game Library

The Game Library is where you can come in at recess and play games. So far we've learned how to play Incan Gold, Zeus on the loose and a few others. Incan Gold is a game of thinking cause you choose to go in or out of the ancient Incan temple. You play for five turns and whoever has the most treasure at the end wins. Zeus on the loose is a game of adding and subtracting because Zeus is building Mount Olympus and you round and there are God Cards that minus, reverse and add numbers to Mount Olympus. Well that's all I have to say about our fun Game Library.

Early Settlers Come to the New World

I really like learning about the Early Settlers in Social Studies because they have some scary encounters and amazing journeys! The first colony was Roanoke, which only lasted for a few years. John white, governer of Roanoke, left to get more supplies and food. He said he'd be back in two or three months, but the England-Spain war delayed him for two or three years! He finally got back, but everyone was gone! The second colony was Jamestown. It started out with over one hundred people, but after a while, only thirty-eight men were left. Then sixty more people came. The third colony was of course Plymouth, settled by the Pilgrims. Plymouth wouldn't have lasted long without the help of Squanto, an English speaking Indian saved their lives. That is why the Early Settlers are so awesome.

To the New World!
